Peace Be Still and Know that I am God....

This verse continues to run thru my head day and night. I have been reading the Word of God daily and still trying to find my way. I was raised in church and have always believed however God has had me on quite a journey for awhile now and I am hungry to learn more. My friend at work gave me her edition of "MacArthur Study Bible". I have NIV Bible however she thought this would help me. I was wondering if anyone uses "The Message" by Eugene Peterson?

To be honest I really don't like The Message Bible. It is not one to read if you are hungry for God's Word...in my opinion, because it is a man's interpretation of what the original writers were trying to express (I prefer the Living Bible for a paraphrase). The NIV is very good I like to read mine daily...I'm very slow but like to soak in everything written.

For me the best method of studying the Bible is to first pray that the Lord would guide my reading and understanding. Study Bibles are useful but again are another man's interpretation so don't always accept what is written, pray first.

If you haven't really got into Bible study before I would start with Romans and one of the gospels...perhaps John? Acts is very inspiring and 1 John just talks so much about the love of God it is wonderful...but just start where you feel led.

It's a wonderful journey...you never know what is just around that bend in the road!

Many blessings.

Never mind the e-mail I sent you...I was able to get to your blog today. :>

I don't have one myself, but I know of some people who have used it. They loved it. I feel like Sarah; I never really cared as much for it because there are so many extra words added to the verses. Like I said though, some people love it. If you go to biblegateway.com, they have many different versions of the Bible online, including The Message. That way you could read any verse you want of that version and see if you like it before you buy one.
Blessings!
